I am running for both Janesville City Council and Rock County Board of Supervisors District 27 because our local government has stopped listening to the hardworking people of our community. Your vote for me on April 2nd will bring the respect and consideration you and your family deserve to your government.
I served in the US Army in Vietnam. As a young civilian, I worked a variety of jobs including the oil fields laying pipeline in several states. My job working for the Pecatonica Railroad eventually brought me here. I was hired at General Motors where I retired after 13 years.
I am a father of five grown children and 15 grandchildren.
Citizens deserve to have their voices heard for larger capital spending projects through ballot referendums. I have been advocating for this since the Janesville fire station expansion project. This project also resulted in residents being forced out of their adjacent homes by the City's use of eminent domain.
Citizens were denied referendums for the $100+ million capital project put through the County for the sheriff's administrative offices new build and also for the City of Janesville Woodman's Ice Arena and convention center.
This runaway government spending needs to stop as it is causing many taxpayers to leave the community.
Our taxes are at all time highs with no plan to reduce any time soon. Previously, I have worked with the WI Dept of Revenue to audit properties to correct the over assessments by the City of Janesville.
I will also work to eliminate the wheel tax that has been placed on City of Janesville taxpayers.
The bridge had deteriorated over the years due to heavy industrial use from the GM plant operations. I worked closely with the WI Dept of Transportation to secure funding to repair the bridge. Today, the bridge allows for easy access to local businesses.
The public has just been informed that they may be on the hook to pay for the clean up of the GM plant site. I am in contact with the EPA to explore options available that would be beneficial to taxpayers while looking into future land use possibilities. I have worked here and I am very familiar with the site.
My opponent has failed to offer solutions to the many problems facing Rock Haven as chair of the oversight committee. The operational and financial problems at Rock Haven have gotten continually worse after many years with no plan to fix them. This will be one of my top priorities as District 27 Supervisor to make it viable for the future.
Rock County & City of Janesville taxpayers now find themselves strapped with a large amount of debt repayments for the next 20-40 years. Although these projects are underway without a ballot referendum, I will work to ensure that these projects stay within budget and any future debt is limited to be paid off in 10 years or less.
